Guessing it was Leaves of Grass seems obvious, but where was the clue about Castle Clinton? And how does it relate? Can I find clues online or do I need to go to a "site" to find them?

The only thing I don't get is that the book is from 1884 yet online they said Calamus was not in the 1884-1885 version which is where that quote in the letter is from. HMMMMMM
